New Orleans Fashion Week 2025
The premier show at NOFW took place on September 17th and was a fantastic spectacle of New Orleans glamour and tradition. It blended the old and new, elegance and camp.
The show was hosted at the House of Broel, a legendary Antebellum mansion turned wedding venue that not only served as Bonnie Broel’s design studio in the past, but has been transformed into a museum housing all of Bonnie’s antiques. Before the show, guests treated themselves to champagne via the skirt of a beautifully Rococo-dressed woman, powdered wig and feathers and all, and made their way upstairs to the museum. The House of Broel is three floors tall, with the second housing Bonnie’s collection of intricately decorated doll houses and the third serving as a showroom for her archival pieces.
The show was the perfect juxtaposition of traditional and modern. The first part of the show was a look into the past, with brides from the 1960s to the early 2000s going down the runway in their own wedding dresses, designed by Bonnie for their special day. They walked with photos from their wedding day, and it was incredible to see not only the pride that came with being a Bonnie Broel bride, but also the craftsmanship of how the dresses had held up with time.
The second part of the show featured fashions by Designer Stephen Goudeau. His designs were the perfect combination of timeless elegance and structural drama. The show was the epitome of not only the “modern bride” but also haute fashion. The collection was for every bride, from sparkling, intricately beaded dresses with ostrich feathers to deep, plunging jumpsuits.
The night was quintessential New Orleans, a mix of history, elegance, and bold expression, celebrating two incredible designers with an impact on bridal fashion in Nola.
The night concluded with a jazz band, who paraded around the House of Broel singing “When The Saints Come Marching In”. The guests paraded in a second line out of the mansion, and the night came to a perfect close.
